Nmims Project
Below is the standard format recommended by NMIMS and other universities for preparing MBA/PGDM nmims project reports. Each chapter serves a specific purpose and must be included to ensure academic quality and structured presentation.
Title of the Project
The title of your project should clearly define the subject and scope of the study. Use simple and specific phrases like “A Study of…”, “An Analytical Study on…”, or “A Comparative Study of…”. Avoid vague or overly broad titles such as “Performance Management” or “Branding”. A good title not only sets the tone for your project but also generates interest in the reader. Include your name, student number (SAP ID), and specialization on the cover page.
Acknowledgement
This section is a short thank-you note expressing gratitude to individuals or organizations that supported your project. It may include mentors, faculty, professionals from companies, or anyone who contributed to your research or learning.
Table of Contents
The table of contents lists all the chapters, sub-sections, and annexures of the project along with page numbers. It helps the evaluator easily navigate through your report.
Objectives of the Project
Your objectives must align with the project title. These can be divided into primary and secondary objectives depending on their importance and focus. Clearly number each objective and keep them concise and achievable. Do not include unnecessary objectives just to lengthen the report.
Scope of the Project
This section explains the boundaries and extent of your study — what aspects are covered, and what is intentionally excluded. It helps define the focus and limits of your research.
Executive Summary
The executive summary is a 2–3 page snapshot of the entire project. It briefly presents the background, methodology, findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Although it appears early in the report, it is written after the completion of the entire project.
Research Methodology
This is a crucial part of the project. It includes the approach used for research, the data collection methods (primary or secondary), sample size, research tools, and techniques applied. You are encouraged to refer to standard books like C.R. Kothari and Business Research Methods by Cooper & Schindler to build your methodology section properly. Include your literature review as part of the methodology and avoid plagiarism at all costs.
Data Collection and Analysis
Each project objective must be backed by relevant data. Mention your sources clearly (primary, secondary, or both). Present your data in tables and graphs with proper numbering and references. Use clear formats and ensure the analysis is easy to understand. Start collecting data early to avoid last-minute rush.
Findings
This section contains the conclusions derived from the data analysis. Findings should be structured in line with the objectives and must include references to the data collected. Be objective, factual, and ensure logical flow from analysis to conclusion.
Suggestions and Recommendations
Offer meaningful suggestions based on your findings. Recommendations should be practical and follow the SMART rule — Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. Ensure they are relevant to what you have studied and are supported by data or observations from your research.
Bibliography
Provide a complete list of all books, journals, articles, and websites referred to while writing your report. This gives credibility to your work and helps the reader verify sources.
Annexure
Include all supporting documents, raw data, charts, questionnaires, or graphs in this section. Reference each annexure properly in the main report wherever required. This section helps validate your analysis and shows the depth of your research.
